I probably ordered a size too large based on a previous review. It is not women sizing. I weigh 170#, a large would probably be a tight, close fitting size over a t-shirt. That is probably the intention. I ordered XXL. For me, that becomes a comfortable fit over normal outdoor clothing like a sweatshirt.
This jacket is burly, with LOTS of hard (plastic) protection in all the key areas like back, shoulders, elbows. It is well vented, with a very stretchy and flexible design. Think motorcycle jacket for warm weather.
